Members of the People’s Alliance for Democracy swarm a departure area at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, temporarily halting all outbound flights.

The protesters are seeking the ouster of Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat.

Hundreds of members of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD party) seized Bangkok's international airport terminal Tuesday, forcing cancellation of all flights.

Members and supporters of the People's Alliance for Democracy stormed through police lines at Suvarnabhumi Airport and into the fourth-floor departure area. They are hoping to stop the prime minister from returning from Puru.

Thousands of traveler are stranded and the staff had been asked to leave the control tower at the airport, said Puttawan Noirod, a spokeswoman for Aeronautical Radio of Thailand, which controls air traffic across the country.

Singapore Airlines cancelled all its flights to and from Bangkok as a result of today's situation. Thousands of passengers slept overnight on benches and luggage carousels.
