Countdown Party 2009 at Bali Hai pier is underway, with International and Thai entertainers joining the massive year-end party.
The "Pattaya Count Down 2009" countdown to Happy New Year 2009 celebration was officially kicked off, with Harmonious Wilbury performing a few songs, to get the crowd moving for the festivities.
Held on Bali Hai Pier, located at the south end of Pattaya Beach, from December 25-31st, the event is an unprecedented, marathon seven-day extravaganza, which is being telecast nationwide, with additional worldwide coverage. The scope of the event is designed to counter the effects of the adverse publicity of the Bangkok airports closure on the tourist industry. The event is expected to draw 500,000 visitors and about Bt500 million in tourist revenues.
The New Year Celebrations will reach a global audience via MCOT's worldwide network link, including CNN, NHK and CBS. GMM Media will also be intimately involved, spending Bt22 million to organise the event, Bt8 million-Bt10 million of this coming from the Chonburi provincial budget. One of the highlights will be live concerts given by 13 bands; Black Head ,Slot Machine ,Harmonious Wilbury, Instinct,Budda Bless ,Playground,Pancake, Boy Piece Maker and all the Super Stars Artists.
